Day 508/-224: Sunday, February 3, 2008: The World Is A Vampire (written 7/22/08)
July 22nd, 2008
So, I’m in a better mood today. Last night, my roommate was reading this article by Fareed Zakaria about the new world order. I’ve been watching ol’ Fareed on CNN for a while… very impressive man. So, I pulled up this book excerpt in Newsweek from a few months ago (appropriate considering that this blog is as out-of-date as I am out-of-dates) and it cheered me up.
Like everyone, I’m worried about how the rest of the world is sucking resources dry. Morally, it’s hard to root against that - after all, more and more people are being pulled out of poverty and so now that they have money they can afford to eat, drink, drive, and buy stuff. This is good for them - and Zakaria shows how it’s good for us, too.
I’ve been in a long-term state of depression over the future of this country and if you are, too, that article might make you feel better.
